The guest book

We have received many compliments over the years in our Guest Book at Hoddywell Cottage. Here is just a small sample of them we thought we would share with you. Thank you to everyone for taking the time to make comments – sorry we can’t fit them all in here!

We thoroughly enjoyed the peace and tranquillity here at Hoddywell Cottage! Went for some lovely walks, but couldn’t find Hoddy’s Well – next time!

Thank you for helping us to unwind and leaving the stresses of everyday life behind.

P.S. The Bride & Groom came to see the house with us. They loved it so much they decided to have their wedding photos taken here (will send photos).

Love the place. The location is perfect and the atmosphere is just right. Three hours to Margaret River seems a waste after having a weekend here.

Thanks for letting us stay at Hoddywell cottage. We had a great time. The house is beutifull. We had lots of warm fires and baths, and toasted marshmellows!

What a cottage! Just great to get away from the hustle & bustle of normality! So peaceful, lovely to listed to the birds & rustling of the leaves. Saw kangaroos on our last night – a bonus. Lovely sunsets.

Hi, I’m Courtney Chrimes. I’m 10yrs old, and I am the great grand-daughter of the man who originally built this house. My dad use to come here when he was little. This is the first time I have been here and I think its warm, a good place to get away from the place that busy.

We were here for easter and we built a cuby house. (Please don’t break it!) Its called the chrimes tree. We brought our bike to ride. (It’s the best place to ride). We stayed here for 5 nights. The barth is perfect. I slept in a double bed. I was here with my 2 brothers (Rhys and Conner). My mum (Rebecca), my dad (Darryl) and my two dogs (Brandy and Sooty). I had a great time.

We came down for a holiday, and loved it because it had a baskit ball ring. And had some where for me to ride my bike!

    IT’S AWSOME. GREAT!

  • 27th – 3oth December 2008. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in your rustic retreat! The restoration of the cottage is fantastic – we could get a feel for the Chrimes’ life and at the same time sleep in cool comfy beds and look after our three-month old baby – he enjoyed the tub on the verandah, but not as much as mummy and daddy. And neither of us had to lean against the taps. We even learned some of the Chrimes’ family history from the old timer at the Coorinja Winery down the road.

This is our second stay here in one month. Great to kids away from telly, computer etc. Clean, tidy house with clean beds.

We said we’d come back, and here we are!

Wish we could have stayed longer. We’ve never seen the place so green – loved the cottage, the flowers – and Hoddymouse!

Thank you for sharing your special place with us.

  • 8th June 2007   Walmsley’s stayed for the weekend. Relaxed, drank Jacks, saw emus & alpacas, visited bakery. Lovely cottage – our 6 year old loved the bath. Thank you. Will be back without child to make use of that bath! Cheers.

  • A great place to get the romance of our wedding back – the beautiful fires and peaceful birds, it was just marvellous.

    P.S. Great beds, good bath!

  • 10-12th March 2007

We loved our three serene and peaceful days at Hoddywell – birds, kangaroos, sunshine and seclusion. You have done a wonderful job of restoring this most unique place.

Well what to say – Toodyay/Hoddywell, a yearly event for us. It just gets better. Bonfires, bush walks, hot baths, toasting marshmallows – certainly an Aussie weekend away. 1st year with my besties, 2nd year with friends & family, and 3rd year with mom, friends & the boy I love, along with an excellent stay – we couldn’t ask for anything more. Can’t wait 4 the years to come.

    All my love,

The hot bath at 1am with candlelight, watching the stars. Frogs croaking, birds whistling. Total bliss. Comfy bed. It says it all. I loved it and will return.

Lovely peaceful time, brought back childhood memories of sitting by the fire and listening to the ABC with my Grandpa.

    P.S. We will return!

  • 20-26 June 2006

Spent a few pleasant days here away from the 3 dreaded “T’s” – television, telephone and traffic. Thanks!
